Project statement

The fish collection is inspired by the Iranian poet Rumi’s work in which fish is generally depicted as a symbol of Love.
Love sometimes slips away from our hands the way fish slips away from the hands of a fisherman, and sometimes gets stuck in our throat the way fish gets trapped in a fishing net.
This collection is the artists’ own experiences of female affection and the role of women in conservative societies.
This work focuses on woman’s feelings in the traditional, conservative society in which women are prohibited from expressing their love and affection. To talk about love-making is taboo, and emotions are to be suppressed.
This collection portrays the pain that accompanies women in today’s traditional societies.
